Shrewsbury Town Football Club - Football Club

Distance 3.44 miles (5.5 km)
Shrewsbury Town Football Club is an English football club currently playing in Football League Two, the fourth tier of English football. Their home ground is the Gay Meadow in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, one of the most picturesque grounds in the football league, on the banks of the River Severn and near to the historic town centre. The club are moving to an as-yet unbuilt new ground on Oteley Road, provisionally called the New Meadow, which will have a 10,000 all-seater capacity with much more car parking than the current ground. The move is funded by the sale of the Gay Meadow to developers, with the club hoping to move before the start of the 2006/07 season, when the new ground will have two stands and a 5,000 seater capacity.

Arscott Golf Club - Pontesbury - Golf

Distance 6.53 miles (10.45 km)
Arscott Golf Club is well worth a visit. Set in a wonderful location with fantastic views from all parts of the course across Shropshire's border country. The 18 hole course has been open since August 1992 but its maturity belies its age. Massive old oak and beech trees grace the course along with the remains of long forgotten mining and brick making industries. Large pools on the 17th and 18th holes are evidence of the clay dug over 100 years ago for brickworks in nearby Cruckmeole and Hanwood. These pits now create very testing hazards on the last four holes, many golfers will tell you how they can change a winning card.
