Firle Place - Historical Houses

Distance 4.93 miles (7.88 km)
Firle Place is the home of the Gage family and has been for over 500 years. Set at the foot of the Sussex Downs within its own parkland, this unique House, originally Tudor, was built of Caen stone, thought to be from a monastery dissolved by Sir John Gage, friend of Henry VIII. Remodelled in the 18th century, it is now similar in appearance to that of a French Chateau. The house contains a magnificent collection of Old Master paintings, fine English and European furniture and an impressive collection of beautiful Sevres Porcelain. General Information: Car park in front of house, Limited wheelchair access, Restaurant, Events in the Park and House - please phone for details. Groups welcome by prior arrangement.

Royal Eastbourne Golf Club - Eastbourne - Golf

Distance 4.97 miles (7.95 km)
Founded in 1887 The Royal is a traditional members club situated in the lee of the South Downs. Comprising 27 holes of challenging golf, we cater for all levels of handicap. Both the Devonshire & Hartington Courses are maintained to the very highest of standards. Built on chalk we seldom see the courses closed. In recent years our friendly clubhouse has been substantially modernised. Our PGA Professional, Alan Harrison keeps a wide range of stock at competitive prices, in his Pro Shop, so whether you are after a particular piece of equipment or prizes a visit is highly recommended.
